Leaders at the HYPAC (Hartington Young People’s Activity Club) have been working on their leadership skills over the past few weeks to achieve their Community Sports Leaders Level 2 Award.
Alice Wager, Bethany Ball, Ben Broadley, Katie Broadley, Jodie Ball and Olivia Williams, who all volunteer at the HYPAC, took part in a range of tasks and activities to improve their leadership skills.
Delivered by Sporting Futures, the course gave the young leaders the opportunity to learn about leadership skills, planning, evaluating and most importantly, delivering inspiring physical activity sessions and events.
The leaders each delivered 3 sessions in a range of activities, with an emphasis on trying new activities and stepping out of the comfort zone. The leaders were also tasked with planning and delivering an event, which we were lucky enough to deliver to KS2 from Hartington Primary.
With Wimbledon in full swing, the leaders planned and ran a tennis taster event, to introduce the children to tennis and give them the opportunity to try skills and adapted games. The event was greatly received and all the leaders stepped up and worked as part of the team to ensure it was a success
The leaders will now complete 10 hours of volunteering in community sport in order to achieve their level 2 sports leaders’ award. Well done to all the leaders involved, who were a credit to themselves and the HYPAC club.
