Volunteering in the community

Our community benefits greatly from the help and support of its volunteers across a whole range of activities and  if you are interested in volunteering some of your time, we would love to here from you.  Below is the current list of volunteering opportunities, it would be great to hear from you if you are interested – there is no minimum commitment, just a willingness to get involved. Contact any member of the HCG committee to find out more about how you can get involved in volunteering.

Current volunteering opportunities:

1. Vice Chair Hartington Community Group – the community group is seeking a vice chair to help with the running of the group, working closely with the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, it is a role that provides a great opportunity to help support the wide range of groups and activities that run across the village.

2. Leaden Boot  – Hartington Lead Marshall and Marshals.  This annual charity walk/ run takes place on the 18th May in 2025, passing through the village and we require volunteers who are able to setup and look after the feed station (adjacent to the Farm Shop) throughout the day as well as provide marshaling support to participants as they enter and exit the village. This event always raises lots of money for local causes, including those here in Hartington. More information on the event can be found here Leaden Boot Challenge

3. Snow clearing – volunteers needed to help clear public paths across the village during Winter in the event of heavy snow. Please contact any member of the HCG committee for more information.

4. Litter Picking – as a community we take part in the annual Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean campaign that runs in late March. Litter pickers and bags are available if needed, and if you’d like to take part, please contact Keith Quine.

5. Hartington Wildflowers develops and maintains community wildflower areas, providing opportunities for volunteers to get outdoors and work close to nature. We currently have eleven areas that we look after, and welcome anyone who would like to get involved, please contact Phillip Neal
