There are currently no UK Men’s Sheds in the Derbyshire Dales!
Connection, conversation and creation – that’s what joining a Men’s Shed is all about.
Men’s Sheds encourage people to come together to make, repair, repurpose, and share skills. They support projects in their local communities such as building things for schools or helping maintain green spaces. Sheds improve wellbeing, reduce loneliness and combat social isolation. Research gathered by the UKMSA Health and Wellbeing Survey 2023, suggests 96% of Men’s Shed attendees feel less lonely since joining a Shed.
Sheds are whatever their members want them to be. Often, they aren’t sheds at all. Many don’t have premises in the beginning and instead form a group that meets regularly for the company and camaraderie until they can find somewhere to kit out with tools. Sheds typically attract older men, but many have younger members and women too.
Whether you are already part of a group that could be called a Men’s Shed or you’re interested in setting one up or attending one, this event is for you! Come along to this free special event at The Church Centre, Church St. Eyam, Derbyshire S32 5QH on Tuesday, 29th April at 10:30 am. In partnership with Derbyshire Dales Social Connectedness, UK Men’s Sheds will give an insightful talk about the benefits and opportunities of Men’s Sheds. Meet others who may share similar interests. Plus, a light lunch is included!
