Youngsters in Hartington are being invited to have their bikes security marked for free as local officers visit the village.
Officers from the Bakewell Safer Neighbourhood Team will be on hand at the Hartington Young People’s Activity Club (HYPAC) at the village school on The Dale from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, June 1.
PCSO Hayley Grundy visited Harington Scouts group on Thursday, May 5 to host a similar security marking event.
She said: “The Scouts visit was really successful with local young people keen to get their items security marked and find out more about the Smart Water solution we use to do so. Smart Water is a forensic fluid which is marked onto property so in the event of it being lost or stolen, it is more easily identifiable by police.
“The visit was also a great opportunity to meet children who were excited to find out more about my role within their community and the work officers do to help ensure safety and security in the areas where they live and play. I am now looking forward to attending the HYPAC group and hope to meet many local youngsters there too.”
Chairman of the steering group behind HYPAC, Liz Broomhead MBE, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming community officers and it will be another positive opportunity for young people from the district of Hartington to work with one of our key partners.
“HYPAC is proud of its inclusive programme and the experiences we are able to provide to members.”
